FDB is one of Denmark’s largest membership organisations with more than one million members. FDB was founded as a co-operative in 1896, as a result of wanting to supply consumers with lower prices and higher quality. Today the members of FDB own Coop, Denmark's largest chain of grocery shops.
Because of our history as a co-operative FDB is founded on the basis of solidarity and thoughtfulness. As a member you therefore receive cash benefits, through our membership programme CoopPlus when shopping in Kvickly, SuperBrugsen and Dagli’Brugsen nationwide. This is due to the fact that we have no stockholders, as a member of FDB you are considered a co-owner.
FDB is working actively towards a more sustainable and responsible consumption, globally, nationally and locally. By giving back a part of our profit to society FDB is able to support 4 key issues: health, climate, environment and ethical trading. By engaging ourselves in initiatives within these 4 fields we seek to encourage and inspire consumers to make more responsible and sustainable choices.
As a member of FDB you can engage yourself in activities in your local grocery shop or be inspired at one of our many courses held throughout the country. As one of our many local volunteers you can help contribute to promoting the 4 key issues.
Furthermore, because FDB is a membership organisation you can involve yourself in the organizational democracy. By being elected to your local grocery shop council, the national congress or the board of directors you can gain influence and help decide the future of FDB.
